Frequently asked questions

Do you diagnose Autism, ADHD or other types of neurodivergence?

No. I do not offer diagnostic assessments for autism, ADHD, or other types of neurodivergence. However, I’m happy to support and accompany you through the diagnostic process — whether you're seeking a formal assessment or exploring whether you might be neurodivergent.

Do you accept self diagnosis?

Yes. I warmly welcome self-diagnosed clients as well as those who are unsure whether they are autistic or neurodivergent. You don’t need a formal label to access support here.

Who do you work with?

I specialise in working with Women and AFAB (assigned female at birth) individuals who have lived experience of being socially conditioned as female. This includes those exploring identity, autism, trauma, and masking in the context of womanhood or girlhood.

If your gender identity is different from ‘Woman’, it doesn’t automatically mean we can’t work together. You’re very welcome to get in touch for a chat about whether my approach and focus is the right fit for you. If not, I’ll happily recommend someone more suitable.

What age clients do you work with?

I currently offer therapy to individuals aged 16 and above.

Can I take a break from therapy?

Yes. Therapy can sometimes feel intense or bring up big emotions and it’s totally okay to take a break if you need to. That might look like pausing for a few weeks or switching to less frequent sessions. We can chat about what works best for you.

Breaks can be a healthy part of the process, especially for neurodivergent people who may be more prone to burn out.

Do you ever take breaks as a therapist?

Yes. I may occasionally take short breaks throughout the year, usually a week or two at a time. I’ll always give you as much notice as I can. These breaks help me manage my own wellbeing, so I can show up for my clients. Therapy is relational work, and I believe in modelling care and sustainability on both sides.

What if I need to cancel or rearrange a session?

Life happens, if you need to cancel or rearrange, I understand. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice wherever possible. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full or part, depending on the circumstances. This helps me manage my schedule and continue offering consistent support.

If I ever need to cancel, I’ll let you know as soon as I can, and of course, you won’t be charged.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That’s totally okay—and actually, really common. There’s no pressure to come with a perfectly planned agenda, or to talk about anything you’re not ready for. We can start wherever feels most comfortable, even if that’s just talking about how your week’s been or sitting in silence for a bit. Therapy is a process, and it can take time to feel safe enough to open up. I’m here to help you gently explore what might be going on beneath the surface, and to support you in finding the words for thoughts and feelings that might feel a bit tangled or hard to name right now.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

I don’t currently offer in-person indoor sessions. However, I do provide walk-and-talk therapy in local outdoor spaces (whatever the weather!). These are available in Coventry, North Warwickshire and surrounding areas.

What if I’m not sure therapy is for me?

That’s completely okay. I offer a free 15-minute phone call so you can ask questions and see how it feels to connect. There’s no pressure to commit.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a core part of therapy. What you share with me remains confidential right from the start. The only exceptions are if I’m concerned about serious harm or safeguarding, in which case I have a legal and ethical duty to act. We’ll talk about this more in your first session.

How many sessions will I need?

There’s no set number, it really depends on what brings you to therapy and what you'd like to explore. Some people come for a handful of sessions to work through something specific, while others prefer longer-term support. We’ll go at your pace and check in regularly.

Do you offer adjustments for autistic clients?

Yes. I welcome sensory needs, stimming/fidgeting, bringing objects/toys for comfort, or taking things more slowly. Just let me know what helps you feel safer or more comfortable.

You never have to make eye contact if it feels uncomfortable or unnatural for you. This is a space where you get to be yourself, exactly as you are.

I’ve had bad experiences with therapy in the past. What if this doesn’t feel safe?

That’s really understandable, many autistic and neurodivergent individuals have had difficult past experiences in therapeutic settings. Therapy should never feel shaming and it’s okay to name your fears or past experiences. We’ll go at your pace and focus on building trust. If we decide it’s not the right fit, that’s okay too, I can help you find someone who is.
